Design services are free. Contact Rhonda Barnes to set up an appointment. During the initial meeting she will review your request and work directly with you to recommend space planning ideas, furniture options, colors selections, as well as flooring and window treatment options.

Furniture should be purchased from the NC State University Contracts. If the items required are not available on NC State University Contracts, the items will be sourced from cooperative contracts or other state contracts. Requistions must include verification of the furniture contract.

Can I work directly with a furniture dealer to purchase furniture for my office?

Yes, you can request a quote from any furniture dealer. The dealer must be able to provide a quote at the price point available on the state of NC term contract or other approved contracts. If the total cost is under $5,000.00 the purchase of the furniture can be made from a MarketPlace supplier catalog or with a university PCard.

How do I purchase a task chair?

To view and try task chairs you can contact the ergonomic specialist on campus. They will be glad to assess your needs and arrange an appointment. For more information please visit The Ergonomics Center website.

Carpeting selection (ordering, delivery/installation)
How do I purchase carpeting?

Rhonda Barnes purchases carpeting from the cooperative contracts through a certified dealer. Before any carpet can be purchased the department has to send in a Facilities Modification Request. If the existing floor is tile and carpet is being installed over it, or a Work Request if there is existing carpet and new carpet is being installed.

Once your specifications are communicated, the Purchasing department will process your request for a quote for carpet pricing.

How do I purchase blinds?

Rhonda Barnes purchases blinds from the State of NC 870A Contract, which covers 1-inch or 2-inch metal blinds. To process a request for blinds email Rhonda Barnes @ Include the following information:
  • name of building
  • room number
  • number of window per room
  • type of blind (1-inch or 2-inch)
  • contact name and number
